Roman Polanski’s new (and possibly final – eep!) movie, The Ghost Writer, is damn good. I saw it a couple of weeks ago and was very, very impressed. Now it has a trailer with a few positives and negatives. Positive: you get to listen to bits of Alexandre Desplat’s excellent score. Negative: the last bit of the trailer takes things out of context and makes the film look more action-y than it really is. The Ghost Writer is just a good old fashioned thriller, and its tongue is occasionally planted firmly in cheek, something this trailer doesn’t really highlight. But trust me on this one: it’s a good movie, one you should discover in theaters as opposed to waiting for video.

i thought that woman looked like Kim catrell…that does not help the cause for this movie. Though I am faithful to anything Ewan is in, so I will see it. I hope Pierce brosnan plays a good villan here and does not reach for redemption in the end. Let the ties to Bond be cut and play a rogue. he's got the chops. And Polanski…talent is not excuse for justice. let him enjoy the the success or failure of this film from a prison cell where he belongs. 'nuff said.
Read the book this was based on a while back… A bit boring. Pierce is well-cast. Ewan is a little young for the (book) role, though.
Let Roman run free. Statutory rape…BAH!
