Man, this Spider-Man reboot. An 80 million dollar Spidey movie? Returned to high school? Envisioned as a quickie series (look for one of these every 18 months, I’m hearing)? Blech.
We know they hired Marc Webb to direct the movie, and now we know more about what they’re looking for in their Peter Parker: pretty, sort of emo and cheap, cheap, cheap. Thus Logan Lerman, the star of the upcoming Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief.
According to Lerman himself, talking to Access Hollywood, he’s in talks for the role. “It’s just, you know, conversations are starting. It’s a long process with the studio and the producers and everything. But it’s definitely a project that I’m really interested in, of course,” he told Billy Bush. “I’d love to focus on the human element a little bit more. It’d be such a fun experience.”
The human element! This is how you make an 80 million dollar Spider-Man movie – you have two action scenes and spend most of the film with Peter’s high school trials and tribulations and the love rectangle between him, Mary Jane Watson, Gwen Stacy and Flash Thompson.
Lerman’s 18; he’d likely be in his mid-20s when his contract on the series runs out and they’ve done their five or six Young Spidey Adventures movies. I don’t know what kind of acting chops he has, but he’s definitely a good looking young kid – that’s a face that will rival Robert Pattinson’s on the cover of Tiger Beat. Every thing I see and hear about this reboot convinces me more and more that the angle Sony is going for is the Twilight angle, the teen romance with an element of action.

First of all, "Percy Jackson and The Olympians" sounds like a '50's era Motown group. I hope I'm not the first to say that…
Second, every single tidbit of info about this Spider-Man reboot makes me cringe. Talks of shooting in 3-D, lowered budget, returning to high school, love triangle, the very thought of restarting Peter Parker's story when the first movie was released less than a decade ago. All of it screams "STUPID, STUPID, STUPID!!!!" Under normal circumstances, I'd be willing to give the benefit of doubt, but I see nothing worthy of that courtesy yet.
Can't wait for you to run your hatred of this film into the ground like so many other movies in the past, Dev. It's gonna fucking Rock. I personally can't ait for hundred of articles bemoaning the new Spider-Man franchise, and when it comes out you'll go "meh wasn't that bad" then suddenly hate it and write another seventy articles. This is gonna be fun.

Congratulations on finding your new crusade. Here's an idea – instead of inventing the movie in your head (most people would call that fan fiction), why don't you wait until anyone has read a script before ripping the movie a new asshole? I'm not interested in high school romance, but I'll reserve judgment until we have any real information. The $80 million budget doesn't bother me. Raimi spent $300 and Spider-man 3 was one of the worst blockbuster films of all time. That cast had 3 movies, and everyone was clearly losing interest and focus. I'm behind this reboot until actual facts prove otherwise. Until then, your bitchy tirade is ridiculous.

Even though Spiderman reboot looks just as bad but it`s Spiderman not some semi-anonymous Harry Potter knock off. At least I haven`t heard of PJ&TO before the movie was announced.

I really agree with Please Stop. I normally can understand where Devin is coming from, but I'd rather no read articles from Devin regarding this if he's going to take a dump on it every 5 minutes.
who cares about twilight? Devin has issues. Reboots are a reality. This property is bigger than Sam Raimi and Tobey MaGuire. Sony paid bookoo bucks for this property and they are cashing in. If not it becomes Marvel's and that isn't happening anytime soon. Hollywood is a business.
So now Devin is going to hate on this project once a week until it comes out, or at least until the Batman 3 news train gathers steam. Did he even watch Spiderman 3? Here’s how Spiderman 4 would have played out: The Vulture escapes from prison in order to get money for his teenage daughter, who has diabetes. The teenage daughter is in love with Peter Parker, who is trying to patch up things up with Mary Jane, who has started dating Aleksei Sytsevich (aka Rhino). Vincent Chase is also in the film, and turns into Electro near the end of the movie for no discernible reason. Peter Parker falls in and out of love with MJ, while fighting the villains in a series of unconvincing CGI battles. Near the end of the film, Carnage climbs out of a manhole and convinces Vulture to team up with him. Harry Osbourne’s butler turns to the screen and explains any left out story directly to the viewers. Dylan Baker is in the film, but still does not turn into the Lizard. THE END. If they want to reboot the franchise (which was looking as tired as a whore’s vagina at sun up), then fuck it. Let them.
There are a few possible good things to come from this "Spidy Re-boot". This kid could do a good job at being the dry sarcastic Spidy that we all love and know from the comics at least until Spidy has to leave high school and grow up again. Also we finally may see a better Venom story and one that doesn't die! Killing Venom was the dumbest move Raimi could have done. I mean how are we supposed to see Carnage (like we all want) if Venom is killed! All and all I agree a reboot will most likely ruin the Spiderman Blockbusters for us all.
There are far worse choices than Lerman. He had a pretty good performance in "Gamer". But, his performance in the otherwise average "Meet Bill" shows that he can strut it with the best of him. Make it so, I say.
