Color me surprised to have really enjoyed the Super Bowl commercial for The Last Airbender, that other Avatar movie. Shymalan seems to understand that cool martial arts should be shot with a wider angle and not with painful close-ups. That said, if you told me that Zack Snyder had directed this footage, I’d believe it. 300 was obviously an influence.

Certainly makes me want to see more.
Damn, a M. Night movie that I am interested in seeing.
agree. that looked rather pretty. will hold out for more word.
I hear the big twist that he's actually dead.
first water, than plants, now air. what's next, m. night remakes firestarter?
omg! The man's working his way up to a live-action 'Captain Planet' movie!!
The last movie is when M. Night gets his heart back.. the twist at the end is that he was the tin man all along.
Shyamalan has caused me so much pain in the past that I'm hesitant to believe this could possibly be good. I haven't seen much of the show, but what I have seen was funny, fast-paced, light hearted and on an epic scale; What part of that formula cries out for this director? Prove me wrong, M. Night.
When honkeys ruled Asia….
Good but could try harder. The action and settings looks a bit staged and wimpy…hope I'm wrong, this is too good a story to waste on a half-assed film.
I live outside of Philly and one day when I was working me and the person I was working with were talking about Avatar. So this guy comes up and asks what we were talking about and says he thought we meant Avatar: The Last Airbender. He then asks what we think about it and I can't remember what we said but then he said he was in it. So we said ah, cool, I guess, was it a big role? He replied well, I was one of the soldiers and then said that it looks like it's going to be awesome then. We then responded oh, cool then, have you seen some footage? He said no, but I've seen the trailer and it looks awesome! In reference at the time to the trailer that just zooms in on that mountain. So, yeah, apparently it's going to be great.
Great story "Rob"! You have the gift of gab!
Oh dear, I hope the music isn't representative of the soundtrack. I loved the music on the original show- rock music wouldn't suit the film at all… that said, the footage is finally giving me hope that this might actually be alright =)
@13 I wouldn't worry too much about the music; hard rock/metal seems to be the way to go for trailers these days, even if it is unfitting (see Robin Hood, Clash of the Titans)
I love the cartoon, and I must say this actually was quite impressive. Getting a good vibe on this one
This guy and I from work were talking about how much Avatar sucked, when this guy comes up and asks what we were talking about and says he thought we meant Avatar: The Last Airbender. I ask him why two grown men would have been talking about a fucking kid’s cartoon, and he tells us he was in the film. I tell him I don’t care, and he tells me he was a soldier. I check imdb and ask him if he was soldier #372. He says no. I ask him if he was soldier #470. He says no. I ask him what the film is about, and he tells me it is a CGI kung fu film direct by M Night Shyamalan. I hit with my keyboard, and he starts crying. The whole office stares, and I feel awkward. I hate my job.
Great story "cheg"! You have the gift of gab!
HAHAHA…..God I love this site!
Avatar as a cartoon was fantastic! Funny, witty, thought provoking, action packed, and epic. I'm 33 with an 8 year old son and Avatar became a staple in our house on friday nights. The whole family was into it by the 3rd "book", grandparents and all. While I have enjoyed a couple of the movies by M. Night Shymalan, I was concerned by the announcement that he took on this project. Cool trailer it may be, but I still am not convinced this will do the actual story of Aang justice.
This is a remake of the anime Avatar: the last airbender
The story if of a prophet (Ang) the boy you see, who is born into a world of chaos. The powers you see are that of Air, Water, Fire and Earth. Great anime this movie looks amazing from the trailers so far.
I hope this lives up to the tv show. It better not disappoint because I am a big fan of the show.
