This movie has been online like forever. Is it actually getting a wide theatrical release?

Saw this when it came out over here. Cracking film.

It's a very reactionary film made for old people who think 'their' england's gone to the dogs. I found it a little knee-jerk and hateful, and depressing really that such a far-right and clearly farcical film has gained so much credit simply by having a great actor at the top. I admit it'sa good idea, just badly executed.

Saw "A Shock to the System" for the first time recently. Caine is always good, especially when he's not trying to be nice or inspirational. His breakdown in "Little Voice" makes that whole movie worthwhile.

Is it really? I would say that England, and especially London, has largely become a multicultural shit hole, thoroughly drowned in nihilism and banality. The same can be said for the rest of Western Europe, by the way.

This film may be a little rough around the edges, and embroidered for dramatic effect, but it certainly reflects a miserable day-to-day reality for countless people who recognise moral decay and severe alienation when they see it.

The fact that you actually call it "far-right" can only mean that you're far to the left yourself. Congratulations.

It's 'multicultural' as opposed to being a 'homogeneous shit hole' or a 'pagan shit hole'. Using these words as adjectives to describe something negative doesn't make these words negative!! Anyway, I'm not gonna write an essay here to demonstrate how my grounds for rejecting multiculturalism are morally sound. Let's keep it at this: multiculturalism, as wonderful as it may sound to many, just doesn't work in practice. That and many other reasons. Also, I didn't call it a shit hole just because it was multicultural. If anything, the root of today's problems are deeper. Multiculturalism is a symptom of that deeper cause. Yet multiculturalism only makes matters worse, as far as I'm concerned. Peace.

@Maarschalk. Well this is clearly not the time or place for this discussion (sorry everyone!), so I'll defer to you on your reasons for thinking that way. Just to give you an idea of where I'm coming from… In my experience (I've lived in two very multicultural cities in my life), areas with greater cultural and/or racial diversity are more socially vibrant places. Tons of music, art, FILM, food, et cetera. I think monocultures are destined to become backwaters, culturally and economically. And whenever I come across someone who uses the word "multiculturalism" in a negative way, they have invariably been members of the majority population and are objecting to the influx of people who are different from them, seemingly oblivious to the millenia of interaction and blending with other peoples that produced their own culture. Of course, I don't know you from Adam, so apologies if I have offended, but if you have legitimate criticisms of multiculturalism you are very much the exception.

Let's face it, have you ever heard anyone refer to 'multiculturalism' in a negative way who wasn't a racist?
This just feeds into Daily Mail/Murdoch driven hysteria about 'Broken Britain' designed to make the working classes blame all their problems on immigrants rather than look at root cause of their (supposed) problems.

As a member of a large multicultural city, I can attest that the multicultural comes before the racist.

And as someone who used to be a British resident, I can attest to that country and London in particular, being a massive multicultural shithole.

A multicultural approach to society is one that asks for several groups of people to constantly be in conflict with one another. Homogenous societies? Well, that's kind of the point, isn't it?

Show me the generation of old people who wasn't scared of their generation of young people, and who didn't think society was going in the crapper, whether it was a "multicultural shithole" or not.

Anyway, reactionary right-wing fantasies aside, this looks like a good movie.

It's refreshing to see some racism from non-American whites. Let's all just get to the point and say that white people are the greatest thing since sliced bread, and the end of the world will undoubtedly be caused by the increase in the number of non-whites. Ditch the multiculturalism debate, we're here to talk about films. Harry brown has been out for months over here in the UK, made lots of dough and was generally well reviewed. I saw it and loved it. Only shame is all the hoodies are portrayed by white actors, when as anyone who lives in Britain knows, almost all troublemaking hoodies are in fact our coloured cousins. Just saying. It's an odd bit of PC bullshit in an otherwise non-PC film.

I just finished watching this movie (on my computer) and the funny thing is is that there's nothing remotely multicutural about this movie. Everyone in the movie is white!!
So, it is in fact just depicting a 'white trash shit hole' LOL!!
