I’ve heard nothing but great things about Nash Edgerton’s upcoming film The Square, an Aussie film noir/thriller about two people in a relationship that are married (not to each other) and end up running into a pile of money. As usual, it’s never as simple as it seems…
The film’s opening in NYC on April 9th at the Landmark Sunshine and we’ve got an early screening tomorrow in NYC (check your inboxes tonight to see if you won!), but till then you can watch this little short called Spider by the director. It uses a certain cinematic gimmick that I’m getting very tired of but still manages to be pretty humorous, and they’re going to show it before the film tomorrow.

i thought for a minute that this was for the Cronenberg directed Spider. The only movie of his which I absolutely cannot stand.
I failed to see the gimmick…..??? Whats the tired gimmick Alex speaks of in this article? Cool video by the way…threw me through a bit of a loop.

I suppose the cinematic gimmick Alex is talking about is the car from off-screen running over somebody. As seen in Final Destination, for example…
Yeah, if you watch many shorts at all, this one is nothing special.
