I am so behind on my WonderCon coverage! But that’s okay – I like to imagine you guys didn’t spend your weekends looking for Robotech movie news on the web, and that you were rather spending time with friends and family, or that you were having other sorts of fun.

So now that you’re returned to your computers on a Monday, we have some slight news from you about a Robotech movie – yes, The Losers director Sylvain White is involved in making one. Should one ever get made.

Talking at a roundtable interview for The Losers, White said that he’s read the script and that he likes what he read. “I’m interested in doing it. The project is not fast tracked. There is no official thing. They sent me a draft and I liked it. It’s a work in progress.”

The director further explained that if the movie got made it would be First Generation, which I’m sure means something to the anime kids out in the audience.

The word had been once that Warner Bros was hot and heavy to make Robotech, especially in the wake of Transformers. Now it seems like the cost of the project has made them more careful. I imagine that if The Losers is a big hit we’ll see Robotech going places – although it may have to wait on a Losers 2, since White said the movie is structured to allow the further adventures of these characters.
