Still feening for that eventual Halo movie? Well, you might need a few stints in rehab to hold you over, but someone in the know says you will get your fix…eventually. ComingSoon has word from Frank O’Connor (sounds like an ’80s action hero name, don’t it?), the Franchise Development Director, 343 Industries, Microsoft Game Studios, who spoke at the recent MI6 Conference in San Francisco:
“We’re going to make a
movie, the scale of all the other stuff that we do changes
dramatically. We make tens and tens of millions of dollars on ancillary
stuff, toys, apparel, music and publishing. If we do a movie all of
that will grow exponentially. We have some numbers if we do a movie,
but it changes everything. It also changes our target and age
demographic.”
The film has had its share of development hell, including an incarnation with Peter Jackson as exec producer and Neill Blomkamp directing. And Guillermo Del Doro had even been in talks to direct at one point, according to Wikipedia. So just hang in there, and hang, and then hang some more. It’s going to happen. Really. The guy just said it would, didn’t he?

I'm not sure I've ever feened for anything.
It's not the franchise, it's the talent. Halo had it's shot and it's very unlikely to get such a dream team as Jackson and Blomkamp was.
Actually, Guillermo himself mentions his previous involvement with Halo in the Hellboy 2 commentary. Apparently Johann's helmet was based on an idea they idea for Master Chief.
I just hope that they get a good director for it. Maybe get Peter Jackson and or Neill Blomkamp back. I just have this feeling it's gonna end up in the hands of someone who doesn't have it in them to make a entertaining movie that is memorable. And I want to give credit to Mr. Oliver. Unlike Devin, David Oliver actually mentions when he read some info on wikipedia. And unlike Devin, it was on a little bit of information–Mr. Oliver didn't just use the wikipedia article to critique a movie. And Mr. Oliver probably won't delete my posts. Bravo, Mr. Oliver. Bravo.

Nope, I don'teven know him. I just thought that two of his recent articles sounded like they "borrowed" heavily from other writers–without any credit being attributed to said writers. I would have moved on, but every time I posted a comment on his article questioning it, my comment would be there one minute and be deleted when I went back to see if anyone else responded. Considering that Devin usually ignores comments from others, accusing him of just taking other people's news as his own, I figured he would do the same for me. This deletion suggests a guilty conscience to me. Though I do not have hard evidence. It's kind of like the guy who takes off running when a cop turns the corner. I don't care if someone quotes or borrows from someone–but they should acknowledge it or at least say it's just a simple coincidence. Like I said, my comments could have been ignored…but to erase them….and my comments only dissappeared on his articles.

It always amuses me that fanboys are dying to see a Halo movie – some of my friends included – when they all know the story and characterisation are easily the most generic elements of the game. Strip the interaction from this scenario and it's going to look tired and rehashed. Without a dream team to rival Jackson and Blomkamp, I wouldn't hold out much hope for it!
