in my opinion, because these movies actually are a fun time. They have violence, gore, and maybe some nudity. Those are the ingredients for a superficial mindless entertainment movie, not robots and Shia Leboeuf going "no no no no no" all the time.
And yeah, blogging might be ruining the world.
I think its a pretty safe bet that this film will bomb despite any goodwill it gets from the geek community. Like not even top 5 in the opening weekend level bombing.
