I think that Buried, which sold at Sundance for big money, was one of the most overpraised movies of the festival. I didn’t hate the film, but the people who went gaga for it baffle me; I can only assume their cinematic experiences have been confined to the very standard. You can read my review right here.
But while I think Buried is just sort of okay, this new poster is killer. Great use of the black space, very striking, very interesting. Nobody’s head is floating about, people are staring out at the viewer. It’s not subtle but it’s not hackneyed.
Rumor has it that there have been reshoots on Buried, so I’m interested in checking it out again. Buried opens in limited release at the end of September before going wider in October.

It's so dark that Reynold's tiny credit stays hidden.
Replace "Buried" with "Kick-Ass" in those first couple of paragraphs, and that's about sums up my description of a movie that Devin DID jizz himself over.
"I didn't hate the film, but the people who went gaga for it baffle me; I can only assume their cinematic experiences have been confined to the very standard." – wow, that's obnoxiously arrogant even by your low standards.
Plan B… You beat me to the punch. I thought Kick-Ass was good. But to call it the best action movie of the decade??? Devin must have been dreaming of being a super hero since he was 7.
I guess they reshot the ending….
A stark, simple poster– I'm amazed Devin didn't call it a "work of art". …It is pretty good though.
"I can only assume their cinematic experiences have been confined to the very standard." Cinematic? Fuckers must not have watched any TV for the past ten years either – this is a tired old concept in either medium.
The poster doesn't look that great to me.
How deep is this motherfucker buried? Ridiculous.
