I started watching Community early and thank God I did, because I haven’t missed a moment of the awesome along the way. This show, ending its first season, is probably the best half hour sitcom to air since Arrested Development. I know I’ve been making this claim a lot about Community, but it simply keeps proving me right. A couple of weeks ago the show did a dead on amazing spoof of Goodfellas, and this week they’re playing with a number of action movies. Die Hard. Predator. Hard-Boiled. 28 Days Later. The Warriors. Many, many more. I’d actually like to see someone do a complete rundown of all the incredible references in this episode.
Kudos to the cast and crew of Community for crafting an episode that I think people will be talking about for years to come.

Easily the best episode of an already excellent first season.
It's gonna be really hard for them to top this one. That was a master stroke of comedic brilliance!
If I am correct this was actually diected by Justin Lin…I personally find this show funny (but not always great). Last night was pretty amazing though.

there was more action in this fucking thing than in all of Iron Man 2
it was epic. it was surf party usa. it was streets ahead! my only problem with the episode is that i'm very concerned that they may never be able to top this episode.
When will men understand that Hulu links are USA-exclusive? Bleah.
i don't think it's quite at the arrested evelopment level, but community is the best comedy around nowadays.
Loved the slams directed at Glee
There are only two modern live-action USA comedies that I can even tolerate (this and Always Sunny in Philadelphia (which seems to have gone way downhill in S5)), but I love the shit out of both of them.
I hope USA can produce more comedies like this in the future.
Community is starting to remind me of an American version of 'Spaced'. And I mean that in the best, most respectful way possible, with nothing but love for both America and Spaced.
Great episode of one of the best comedies on TV. I wish they'd just get away from the need to have sentimental ending every week. I thought Seinfeld taugh us that we can enjoy the shallow and neurotic without a 30 second apology coda.
i didn't laugh once. this edgar wright referential-humor-by-making-whacky-remakes-of-campy-action-scenes syndrome needs to die. it's not funny or clever, just stupid and boring. come up with something original without straight up copying your favorite filmmakers. an homage is one thing, this is just masturbation.

I don't know if anyone's ever pointed this out elsewhere, but one of the things I find unique about the show is that you never see the characters outside of school, like they're always on campus. If there are any real world issues to be dealt with, they're adapted for and made even more ridiculous by the community college setting. Also, the school gimmick is perfect for the September-May TV season, as the show is on break whenever real students would be, and having a different holiday special every few weeks doesn't seem forced. The show's been consistently great, and I think the Halloween episode may have been my favorite so far, though the Kickpuncher subplot in one of the more recent episodes really won me over.
I love the Glee slams too. Holy dysfunctional verification system, Batman.
