Time Warner honcho, Barry Meyer, recently did a presentation for TW Investors Day where some details on Warner Bros.’ 2011 slate and beyond were mentioned, says THR.com’s Heat Vision. Among the films in the presentation, Sherlock Holmes 2 was given a spot in December 2011. Other films for 2011 previously discussed:
– Red Riding Hood: April 22
-The Hangover 2: May 26
– Green Lantern (3D): June 17
– Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II (3D): July 15
– Journey to the Center of the Earth 2 (3D): Sept. 23
– Happy Feet 2 (3D): Nov. 18
– New Year’s Eve: Dec. 9
Of course, a big topic of discussion was Warners’ stake in their DC comic book films. Meyer mentioned that a Flash film is “nearing” approval, and reiterated that Christopher Nolan’s Batman 3 is eyeing a July 20, 2012 release date, and the next Superman film for Christmastime 2012. Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and Mad Magazine characters are also in development.

Green Lantern is going to kick all our asses. That's the only superhero movie they need to tide us over until Batman. I hope it leapfrogs DC over Marvel. Iron Man 2 was indulgent bullshit that took Tony Stark two steps back.

Aquaman? Are they getting Cameron and Vinny to comeback for this "reboot"?
Mad Magazine movies? How can they ever top "Up the Academy?" It's not like I wouldn't be semi-interested in a CGI Spy vs. Spy thing, but there's no way to stretch that to a 90 minute film. Maybe a live action "The Lighter Side of…" where Roger Kaputnik gets cancer and comes to terms with his life? Sounds like Oscar to me.
Mad Magazine characters? If there's some kind of movie based around Alfred E. Neuman I may just lose all hope. My childhood will be well and truly raped in a way that I didn't think possible, what with me hating that expression and all.
Green Lantern is in 3D?!? Really?!? God Damnit, when will it end? It's not being filmed like that is it? It's being converted?
Geesh Warner Bros! Journey 2? Just throw your money away and Sherlock 2? People watched the first one expecting alot more. No one will watch the second Sherlock Holmes as they now know better. this is why Warner Bros is close to being bankrupt. Bad Choices.
Comment #6—-"New Year's Eve" has a built-in expiration date, so it makes perfect sense for it to come out quite a bit earlier in the month, just like when Christmas movies come out in mid-November, so that they can ride it out until then and get the last little boost before disappearing. When it comes to holiday or specific date-themed movies (like "The Omen", 6/6/06, get it?), movie audiences have no imagination whatsoever. You could put out a star-studded movie called "Arbor Day" and it will still have at least that ONE good day of business. Also, having worked at a theater, we always get crushed on New Year's Eve for our early evening shows, and anything geared towards adult audiences will be successful even if it's been out for forever and is something that everyone's already seen. "New Year's Eve" is going to do huge business with THAT crowd that's looking for something to do before moving on to their real New Year's plans.

A SUPERMAN movie at Christmastime sounds right to me. Hopefully that one lands right this time (Wachowski's or Coen's please). JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH 2? Hmm, didn't see that coming. If Ryan Reynolds is GL, then does this mean that Bradley Cooper will be Flash? When will the fanboy casting begin (again)?
