Taken,
the violent story of a Liam Neeson trying to rescue his daughter in
Europe, was a surprise smash hit. Fox had picked the completed movie up
and essentially dumped it in January, where it proceeded to make a shit
ton of money.
Which means that a Taken 2 can’t
be too far away, and Liam Neeson has told MTV
News that it is in fact in the
planning stages. Neeson tells the site that he’s meeting with producer
Luc Besson later this month to figure out where to take the sequel, as
it would be ‘hard to get a plot that would be believable.’ This is
something he said while doing press for the hyper-believable A-Team,
by the way.
Where would you like Taken 2 to
go? Maybe he could rescue his daughter from another part of the world,
or maybe a space station. Or perhaps he could rescue her from an
alternate dimension. The possibilities are endless, and almost
believable.

As any regular of The B Action Thread will tell you, the sequel MUST be Taken II: Rendezvous – and involve the teaming up of Liam Neeson and Leland Orser in a xenophobic adventure where many people are killed. The particulars of the plot are unimportant. And Xander Berkeley must once again be reminded that this is not the time for dick measuring. Without these elements in place, I fear the film will not work.
I agree with Erix here. You also need more endless inappropriate techo beats to the gritty story and another car chase ripped strait out of Tango and Cash.
Easiest thing in the world… Liam and his team are contacted by someone who's kid was kidnapped, and off they go. The difference from the Ateam or Expendables is tone: no wisecracks, no cartoonish shootouts where no one gets hurt. Just grim professional badasses hurting non-USians in close quarters. Also, lots of running.
Man. Just let a good movie stand alone without a sequel. Does the world really need a Taken 2?
I guess you could make the argument that if shitty movies get trilogies these days without needing to actually be good movies, that logic upholds the decision to make a sequel to a surprisingly fun movie, but it will be hard to capture lighting in a bottle twice with this one. Unless it all turns out to be a darkman prequel.
Easy, have the Britney Spears wannabe bitch from the first one get kidnapped and Liam has to rescue her, not solo this time, but with the help of his old buddies who were intro'd in the first film.
obviously its gonna be Liam Neeson Vs. Mel Gibson. Who are both out to Avenge or save some family member. They fight, then realise they are on to the same team. Hunt down the kidnapper/killer/tortureer. Only to see Micheal Caine, beat them to it.
.doh.
Dude, I feel sorry for Mr. Neeson. Since his wife died, he's been doing work after work after work. How many movies has he done in the last three years. Don't get me wrong, he's totally gone out of his box with all these action films (Taken was good, haven't seen A-Team), but I don't know.
Remake that episode of The Twilight Zone where the girl is trapped in another dimension. Neeson can rescue his daughter from a goblin king in a labyrinth. The possibilities make me salivate
Nah, you all are trying to hard. He continues protecting famous singer chick and she continues to mentor his daughter. They BOTH get kidnapped in an attempt to ransom rich singer chick, he owns the mercenaries hired to pull this off by her competition or a jaded lover or whatever. cool movie #2
