Two great tastes that taste great together: Rian Johnson and The
Mountain Goats. Johnson is a terrific young filmmaker whose movies Brick and
The
Brothers Bloom I’m sure you’ve seen. The Mountain
Goats is a band headed by (and more or less totally the work of) John
Darnielle. Recently Rian filmed a very intimate Mountain Goats
performance of the band’s new album, The Life of the World to Come,
which has had a very limited theatrical run and was released as a
limited DVD on Record Store Day this year. Rian’s been a fan of The
Mountain Goats for some time, and actually directed a video for the song
Woke Up
New a
couple of years ago.

That is kind of crazy awesome. Going to have to see if there's a way to pull that up on the TV… shame that Roku doesn't have a Pitchfork.TV channel. Thanks for this
I actually got to see this in a small theater the night before the album released. I thought it was a remarkably engaging experience considering how low key and simple the performance was.
This is awesome that you guys caught wind of this. Heard about this a month ago or so, didnt realize the flick was available on the net. I love the fucking Mountain Goats!! Great post Devin!!
