Back in March it got loose that Tim Burton was planning a stop-motion, 3D take on The Addams Family comics (Charles Addams’ New Yorker satirical pieces, rather than the popular TV show and films). While Burton hedged his bets at the time, ComingSoon had a chat with the producer of the project Christopher Meledandri who confirms the projects existence, and Burton’s involvement.
Burton still isn’t signed on to direct (he hasn’t solely directed either of the stop-motion films he’s produced anyway) and the script isn’t done yet, but I can imagine 3D is still a sure thing. ComingSoon asked about the film’s choice of color palette –if the film might mirror the original comics and be in black and white– but Meledandri says the decision hasn’t been made between that or ultra-washed-out, gloomy desaturation.

Well then, they won't be calling Mr Addams "Gomez" then right? Bullshit "Going back to the source" spin. It'll be as faithful to the original strip as Alice was to Carrol. Burton doesn't read, he's said so. He only has memories of old TV Shows, Movies and Cartoons to draw creatively from.
I'm sorry to be Mr. Negative, but Burton is over. I love the Ed movies, but the stream of unforgivable crap coming from his direction can only be avoided, never even guardedly hoped for. I'm more excited to hear what's next from P. T. Anderson at this point.
I was over at a friend's recently, who had rented Alice in Wonderland, and I got up and left the house around the time Tweedle dee and Tweedle Dum were hanging upside down getting hit in the face with branches. There were a dozen or so twenty-somethings there and no on liked it. I like the Addams Family, but I'm through with Burton.
Yeah. I haven't enjoyed a Burton film since Mars Attacks!, and I don't hold out much hope for this one. I really, really love the Adams cartoons. They're subtly creepy and funny in a way that Burton can't even approach.
is he incapable of doing anything new, original, or challenging? here's a quote from his wiki (must be true): "After the success of Pee-wee's Big Adventure, Burton was sent several scripts and became disheartened by their lack of imagination and originality…" he basically directs gaudy sets nowadays, instead of giving life to new unique characters.. what a waste, textbook sellout..
I really, really don't understand why are you guys talking so damn badly about Burton's way to do things. I think he is fucking original, even though he commonly uses old things, what isn't actually bad as he transform them into his own style. His movies have such an own style, even though it's about something that was invented one hundred years ago. And I might add that all this stuff of nowadays like witches, vampires, creatures and stuff have been created such a dreadful time ago, what's up for people do now it's to make some differences or creations based on it. I really like Tim.
