There’s been a handful of announcements I’ve been patiently waiting to share with you, and for once I actually behaved and didn’t slip my overrated tongue. The movie I was a producer on has finally gotten a release date and if I may say so myself a perfect one for a great little horror movie from the mind and pen of Guillermo del Toro, Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark.
January 21, 2011. This news was reported on The Heat Vision Blog and I think it’ll be a nice way to kick off a new year.
For those who aren’t aware, the movie is the directorial debut of Troy Nixey, a seriously talented and delightful man I’ve been in cahoots with for quite a few years now. Watch the short film that helped get him the gig here. Katie Holmes, Guy Pearce, and Bailee Madison star in the tale of little creatures in the basement of an old mansion and the wicked things they’ll do to get their claws on a little girl. It falls directly in the epicenter of Guillermo’s wheelhouse and definitely shares a kinship with your favorite flicks of his. And Troy, well he’s going to be directing films a long time.
As for trailers and other goodies, stay tuned. Hey, is there any big conventions next month? Just asking…

At first I thought the film's title was "Are You Afraid of the Dark", now that would be a film that would make my dick wiggle.
the latchkey movie was decent. went on about 10 mins too long and the "look" was far better than the movie. but ill be curious to see how his first feature turns out. guy pearce awesome. i cant imagine katie holmes being very convincing as "scared", she lives with tom cruise for chrissakes!
Can't wait. Need to see the original, but this is on the top of my 2011 list.

Why can't I get the links on this page to work? They always work on all the others. The b&w picture posted is gorgeous, and if the film is foinf to have images like that then I want to see it. If that is a "publicity photo" that has nothing to do with the film (what I expect to happen) then I don't care to see it.

Nick I am all for anything that keeps you away from writing comedy on this site. Thank god you finally found something to occupy your time. Keep busy and for the love of everything that is holy and funny please, please dont ever write another "funny" bit on this site again. Seriously I cannot emphasize enough how unfunny you are. I dont want to go on and on but you are like a black hole for humor. Your about as funny as rape!
You need to learn how to properly use 'you're' before you start pointing fingers.
Nick's writing and humor is isn't for everyone. It is absurdist and inventive, and for me, influential. Anyone attempting to develop a unique voice will NECESSARILY fall on their face a lot but that's the price of creativity, and stuff that works does so wonderfully. And congrats on the flick.
Chudfan's obsessive schoolboy crushes on both Nick and Devin are just terribly cute, even if they are borderline psychotic.
