With Inception
coming
out this weekend the next bright spot for geeky film lovers is Scott
Pilgrim vs the World, Edgar Wright’s adaptation of Bryan
Lee O’Malley’s fabulous comic book. Pretty much the entire cast will be
coming to San Diego next weekend for Comic Con, and Universal has some
other major plans brewing. You should follow the special Comic Con
specific Twitter feed – @SPvsCC – for all the details. I bet
there’s something amazing happening.
In the meantime, Universal has to
keep marketing the movie to norms, not just the Comic Con crowd, and
thus this new featurette which attempts to explain the unique and
awesome feel and tone of the movie. Next time someone in your office is
confused by Scott Pilgrim‘s kung fu and fireballs, show them
this:

Any rumors yet if this might screen at the con?
I don't see why it wouldn't.
I still find it odd that Devin loves this while hating all the geek influences that inform it.
WOW this has major flop written all over it. Looks absolutely terrible. Hopefully Edgar Wright will concentrate on properties that people actually care about in the future and not waste his time making movies for uber nerds.
I doubt it will be a runaway hit but anyone with a little bit of geek in their heart is flipping out over this one. Also, shame on you for making the "He should do something more mainstream" argument. Don't be that guy.
Well I don't exactly have my finger on the pulse of popular culture but every trailer and clip I see from this just reinforces the "not for me" vibe. I'm scratching my head over why this one has the internet geek community so lathered up. I had similar doubts about KICK-ASS that were proven to be justified. This, if anything, looks even more removed from my cup of tea.
