For the upcoming tenth and final season of Smallville, the big bad was revealed at Comic Con to be Darkseid. Among other tidbits revealed: John Schneider will be returning for the show’s 200th episode. Also, star Tom Welling and Justin Hartley, who portrays Green Arrow, will both be directing episodes. Hartley will be in 17 episodes and Erica Durance will appear the entirety of the season as Lois. Allison Mack (Chloe) will be departing the show, but will reportedly be getting a “good sendoff.”
In its nine seasons so far, Smallville has been active in mining the Superman mythology for villains, both major and minor, to varying degrees of success. Recent main villains have included a resurrected Zod (actually a clone, played by Callum Blue), Brainiac (James Marsters), Bizarro (Welling in a dual role), and Doomsday (Sam Witwer). No word was mentioned as to who will be portraying Darkseid yet.

I know this show has budget limitations… but PLEASE, no human Darkseid.
Well clearly they should just come full circle and get Michael Ironside to reprise the role.
Sadly, they've already used Michael Ironside. Next best choice? Get Ron Perlman in there. He's better than Smallville deserves at this point, but Ron's shown he's not above doing crap just to get a paycheck.
have to say that the season 9 storyline of smallville might just have been the greatest run of superman stories ever which speaks volumes about the comics(storyline was still great regardless). the clone kandorians and the future apocalypse episode was pretty incredible.
Handsome, debonair Erik D'Arkseid comes to Metropolis. Erik is the ruler of the European principality of Apokolichtenstein. He becomes a new rival for Lois' affections, but does he harbor sinister designs on Kryptonian technology? Erik is played by Luke Perry.
Pete wins.
