This is “catching up” stuff, but word around the collective campfire is that the (recently denied) rumors of Robert Rodriguez being courted to direct Deadpool are in fact true, and LA Time goes so far as to say that the conversation has “moved beyond the casual discussion stage and into the more substantive realm of deal points.”
There’s still not much to the story until something get signed or announced, of course, but the logic checks out- Fox seems to be pleased with the performance of the Rodriguez-guided Predators and the director is reportedly looking for something blockbusterish to follow up the upcoming Machete and his in-development Spy Kids: Again With This Shit.
Remember that the script for Deadpool was written by Zombieland scribes Rhett Reese and Paul Wernichave, and that Ryan Reynolds, somehow someway, is still considered a lock for the role.
Look out for more when something meaningful happens.

I think Reynolds is the obvious choice. The faults of Wolverine's Deadpool is due to the script and Hood, and lesser extent producers.
A Rodriguez Helm'd DEADPOOL with the Zombieland writers and Reynolds, has the possibility to be Gold. Maybe not a blockbuster like IronMan. But, a hit in the vein of Zombieland, and Deadpool fans.
Yeah, I'm sure this be a knock out movie just like Predators was. Terrible news. This indicates that fox wants to get this made as cheaply as possible without making it a direct to dvd release.

LOL @ Spy Kids: Again with this shit. When is Robert Rodriguez going to realize that people don't want to see Spy Kids/Lava Girl Shark Boy/Shorts and gives us more hard R Rated stuff. And what is going on with Red Sonja? Has this been banished to development hell? I remember seeing a poster for it about a year ago, haven't heard anything since. Oh well.
I liked Ryan Reynolds in one or two things. But I just don't get the apparent size of his appeal. I can't imagine anybody Joe MovieGoer even knowing his name. And though I wish him the best of luck, I cannot imagine him ever being a genuine American movie star. In a way, Green Lantern is a perfect stage for him to fulfill all this "promise" and to probably disappear, unless he is willing to go back to supporting roles (where I like him). Smoking Aces — I can't remember him ever being better than he was in that. Green Lantern is, to me, just an interchangeable superhero who has his cool moments and overall is pretty damn acceptable. That's Ryan Reynolds. Except I thought Green Lantern is black now. Man. If ever there as a chance for Hollywood to bet on black, that was it. Would have been a great way to make GL less interchangeable and give him flavor.
I saw more people dressed as Deadpool at Comic Con this year than I did Captain America. And there were TONS of Captain Americas. So, I think that says something about demand for this property. And where demand exists, there's a corporate executive foaming at the mouth not far behind.
BPValentine, there is more than one Green Lantern from Earth, 5 to be exact. The black dude is just one of them.

Rodriguez continues to make Spy Kids because those three movies have grossed more than all nine of his other films combined.

Rodriguez has said that he made the Spy Kisds movies for his children as he would not allow them to see any of his rated R works at the time. The films have grossed somthing like 450 million world wide. That is pretty impressive. I guess children really do like this sort of thing.
Why are they still frontin' like this movie's gonna happen? Is Ryan Reynolds tied to this shit or something? If so, and if he's got a post-Green Lantern brain in his head, he'll back out.
