What I’m Thankful For:
Theatrical B-Horror.
It doesn’t matter how appropriately or inappropriately good or bad Piranha 3-D is.It doesn’t matter where the money came to finance it, if the investors were lied to about the prospects or quality of the production or why Elizabeth Shue, Jerry O’Connell, and Richard Dreyfus agreed to be in it. It doesn’t matter what this does for the momentum of Alexandre Aja’s career as a horror director to watch. All that matters is that we have a sex-filled and gore laden (I won’t link to the bootleg footage but it’s out there and amazing, I don’t need the traffic that bad) theatrical 3-D movie about little fish that eat people with absolutely not one single ounce of cynicism. It really does warm the heart because I think a generation has been denied these most simple pleasures. My parents had them. I had them. I don’t think a lot of people entering college right now had them, and it’s nice to see folks giving back, even if it’s in a way that very few are going to understand or appreciate. Though Snakes on a Plane meant well, this is the real deal. And I for one am very, VERY thankful.

I thankful the inmates in my prison block use spit as lube occassionally. And I'm thankful for that Piranha 3d poster.
I am also very thankful for this movie. There's not enough good killer animal movies lately. I don't know why. I'll never get tired of seeing hot women eaten by giant and not so giant monsters of all sorts. Why "MEG" never happened is a mystery to me. You make a movie about a giant shark that doesn't have Johnny Rico in it and I would probably see it at least three times at the theater.
There's 'Sharktopus'…
does anyone have a desktop sized copy of that poster?
Everyone thinks these movies are a slam dunk. They aren't. That's why there's Jaws, and precious little else worth wasting your time on. Adding Irony to the mix was the smartest move B-Graders ever made. The only people who shouldn't be allowed the use of irony are Hipsters.
I saw this trailer in a packed house, total silence as it played out then a second after it ended, nervous laughter erupted throughout. I do not think it was appreciation laughter, I think this movie will tank hard, irony and b-horror do not play anymore…too bad.
I'm thankful for a woman who wears a thong under her bikini bottom, like in this picture.
