Could Bong Joon-ho, director of the incredible The Host, and J.J. Abrams, Star Trekker and producer extraordinaire, be teaming up to bring Joon-ho’s next film to America?
The gents who call /Film home seem to believe it’s a possibility, with a source claiming that Abrams has hopped over the pacific to meet with Joon-ho in Korea. While it’s unlikely we’ll be getting a VS film starring the beasts from Cloverfield and The Host, we could be getting Joon-ho’s first film shot in America, and one produced with Abrams’ resources.
Without much more specificity to the story than that, it leaves a lot of open room for imagining what the two could be cooking up. Will it simply be a Joon-ho film backed by Abrams? Some kind of marriage of their sensibilities? Monsters?

The weird space between the third paragraph and the plug for the message board fooled me into thinking there was an invisotext reveal. Alas…
He's probably the best director working in the world at the moment, and if they could somehow wriggle Kang Ho Song into it, they'd be getting the best actor too.
His new film Mother is by far the best movie of 2010.

Bong Joon Ho's films always manage to defy expectations… in a very good way. I expected Mother to be grim and depressing (not sure why – his other films have a real offbeat sense of humour about them) and found it to be really funny, engaging and suspenseful. I absolutely loved the opening with the Mother dancing, and its final payoff in the end. Anyhoo, I guess I'm saying I'd watch anything this guy does – he's the real deal.
Obviously JJ is going to exec produce Joon-Ho's American debut- Felicity: The Movie.
