Alamo Drafthouse’s Mondo created a striking poster in celebration of the Fantastic Fest/Aint It Cool News special event screening of SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD tonight (8/12) at the Alamo Drafthouse theater in Austin, TX. Edgar Wright and cast will be in attendance. There will be a special menu themed to the film and legendary post-screening activities with epic surprises!!

The Scott Pilgrim vs. The World event continues in the tradition of ultra cool Fantastic Fest-branded screenings outside of the actual festival, including —
Star Trek — they held the first ever public screening of the new Star Trek film. The audience was lured to the theater by being told that they’d see a 35mm print of Star Trek II: The Wrath of Kahn and after the first 5 minutes, the print broke down. A man in a trench coat walked out in front of the theater with print cans. He revealed himself to be Leonard Nimoy and asked the theater if they’d like to be the first audience in the world to see J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek.
Iron Man 2 — Robert Downey Jr. and Jon Favreau made a surprise visit to the Alamo Drafthouse for the first public screening of Iron Man 2. Favreau also DJ’d at the after party next door to the theater.

Oh look another Pilgrim article on CHUD! Would be nice to see some independent film coverage but that doesn't exactly generate money. So much for the love of film.
It's the doodle Scott does of Ramona to show to people, to ask if they know her.
The scribble in the middle of Pilgrim is the doodle of Ramona he draws to find her at the party. It's in his heart, so d'awwww.
Anyway, I like how the Seven Evil Exes are framed in almost reverberations of that central Ramona Heart. Cool idea.

That poster is completely inert, which is the opposite of what one might expect when you cram a gigantic face from the movie into every inch of canvas and include lots of ambiguous lines and shapes. But alas.
Goodness forbid that CHUD would want to write about a good film…
While I don't really give a rats ass about this poster, or the movie its for, I have to wonder, why did I bother to sign up for the Mondotees email list, if I have to find out about their upcoming posters second handly from Chud?

The thing in the heart is the Romona flowers sketch Scott makes at the party. And, I gotta say, I've loved every single Mondotees poster ever (I own the Total Recall one), except this one. The colors don't work for me, the "Scott Pilgrim" part of the title is totally lost back there, and the lack of video game-related things is missed opportunity. Faces look good though.
