I love the look and vibe of Trick 'r Treat but it's far too short and doesn't have enough meat on it's bones to be an entirely satisfying experience. I can totally see why it went straight to home video.

Some of the stories work better than others. I liked it at first but it hasn't sat well. Probably will revisit next year though…
Just by coincidence I watched this yesterday for the first time. Totally in agreement with Nick. As I was watching it, I kept thinking "what was all the hype about"?. It looked nice, that's all I can really say for it.
Like many of these types of flicks it is an audience movie.
Two years ago I was living in Hollywood and I scored a couple passes to a Halloween weekend screening that AICN was hosting. Man was this thing a thrill!
We all went gaga for it and it was such a great feeling to have experienced this movie with a bunch of die-hards (not to mention cast and crew).
That being said, I still think the flick holds up well on home viewings. LOVE IT!

I think it's one of the best anthology movies ever…totally works
This movie was good… but that's really all I'll give it. Devin made it sound like the second coming of Creepshow, which it most definitely was not. Some great performances, some uneven filmmaking. At times it was creepy, other times it was just sort of… there. But I've seen worse.
It was worth it for the story about the kids in the bus on Halloween, but other than that, kind of meh. That little mascot from the film was kind of cool as well.
Also a fan. I bought the DVD sight unseen and enjoyed the hell out of it. I'm going to check it out again tonight at the New Beverly Cinema as a double feature with Halloween III (which I haven't seen yet).
Good film, not great but pretty enjoyable. You don't seriously think that 80's cheesefest is better, surely?

As for TRICK 'R TREAT, I loved it. I absolutely thought it was one of the most enjoyable Horror flicks of the last decade. Then again, I'm a huge fan of the Amicus Horror Anthology films of the late 60s/early 70s.
