While Titanic is a lock for a 3D re-release next year, it should come as no surprise that the 3D trend is one that will only get stronger and more irresistible to studios trying to make an extra buck in this wintry economic climate.
The latest film to be dug out of its grave to inflict headaches and blurry vision upon the masses is, according to The Hollywood Reporter, The Lion King, re-releasing in digital 3D on September 16th of this year.
I’m just gonna be completely honest and candid here- I hate 3D. My opinion doesn’t count for that much, i’m sure, and I know i’m not the only one against it, but I just think it’s gimmicky as all get out and doesn’t add much more to an experience for me besides a slight headache. I’d rather the youngsters of today be introduced to films the proper way. But that’s probably just me being cantankerous and such.

I’m with you, 3D is just a ploy by the greedy studios to squeeze more money out of peoples wallets. I would theorize that 90% of the films in 3D aren’t greatly enhancedby 3D. The only ones that are worth it are some animated films and that’s about it.
3D animated 2D drawings? I do not see the point
The only movie I want to see in 3D is The Creature from the Black Lagoon, and I want to see it with the red and blue glasses like when I was a kid.
I have no idea how they will create depth with these 2D shots.
THAT 3D is indeed gorgeous…and even Cameron hasn’t bested it.

I’m freakin’ sick of 3D. Avatar was cool and worth the money. But while Thor was great, I paid $16 a ticket to see it in Imax/3D. That over $100 to take the family to the movies!
