This looks very real. The licensing show is going on now and a bunch of stuff is leaking out. This is a really crisp and hi quality design so I’m hoping Warner Bros. lets it live free and proud. It’s nice and it’s never too early to get the hype started for next summer. Batman is going to be a nice counter this this year’s larger than life heroes.

I’m pretty darn sure I’ve seen this poster before, perhaps as early as back in 2008. I could be wrong, but I’m pretty sure this is a fake. The biggest clue is the tagline. Generally speaking, fake posters tend to use obviously symbolic lines from the previous film (“The night is darkest just before the dawn”). I’m pegging this as a fake for the moment.

I’d like to see what would happen sometime if a studio decided to turn the tables and rip off one of the fake posters (which are essentially the graphic design equivalent of fanfic), because really, the artist doesn’t have a leg to stand on when it comes to firing back. I mean, they put the WB and DC logos on the thing, so they’d be lucky if ALL they got was their ideas ripped off. They want to get a graphic design job? Great, go through the right channels and don’t try to push something like this as legit. When you’re talking about something like the Batman franchise, Warner Brothers isn’t going to hire some dude they don’t know that just walked in off the street with a script that no one told him to write, and I don’t think they’d treat any other part of the production any differently.
Does anyone else find this poster absolutely hilarious? I mean, like eventually Batman got tired of people making fun of the way he talks so he ended up letting the cops chase him and then he jumped out the fucking window? SPLAT!! And Nolan fools us by presenting the one return to the camp 60s TV show in his entire trilogy. (Wilhellllllllm screeeeeaaaaam!!!!! POW!!!)
It looks like shit. Just a mess. My first thought was it’s a poster for somekind of supernatural horror movie abouta demon taking over a city or some shit like that.
The guy who made this poster didn’t try and pass it off as legit. He wanted to get noticed, so he used high-profile subject matter for a portfolio piece. But he never tried to fool anyone and then say “Well, if I was able to convince you, you should hire me!” And he is going through the proper channels — graphic design is incredibly competitive, and the market right now is over-saturated with talent. I’m a designer, and every in-office job I’ve had, I had to beat out hundreds of other resumes and portfolios. And give killer interviews. Getting your work out there and getting noticed is half the battle.
