Once you do one Judd Apatow movie, you’re in them all. This rule is proving true for several members of the Bridesmaids cast, who are drifting over to Knocked Up 2. (It lacks a title, but this is what I’m going to call it until it gets one.)
Chris O’Dowd was one of the first to make the jump, and according to The Hollywood Reporter, Melissa McCarthy has now followed. There, she’ll be joined by Super 8’s Ryan Lee, who you better know as The Kid Who Liked Explosives A Lot. (He was my personal favorite of the little gang, so…hooray!) All that’s known at this time is that they’re playing mother and son, and attend the same school as Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann’s little imps.
I’m sure someone out there is just annoyed as all hell that Apatow is making some kind of sequel to Knocked Up, but I think the cast sells it as something worth keeping an eye on. I could probably watch it purely for O’Dowd, Lee (especially if he was his Super 8 character all over again) and McCarthy and be reasonably satisfied.

Well, I hope McCarthy gets tons of work. She was great in a role that I worried would be nothing but a tired/offensive fat joke.
One of my former manager’s said that I reminded him of her character in Bridesmaides; I can’t decide if I should be flattered or offended.
wonder if Heigel will be in it, considering her comments following the first one.
The cast of this movie keeps on getting more and more exciting. My only concern is that Apatows directorial efforts are continually becoming more and more of an indulgent showcase for his wife. The progression of her in these has kind of hurt his credibility some what. Funny people would have avoided alot of problems if they did not have the section with his wife in it( that and making Sandler more sympathetic, instead of a rich asshole).
I’d say she’s having the time of her life. She has her second hit show, Mike & Molly, to keep her busy most of the year (Gilmore Girls was her first)…………..and now a film career with Apatow to fill her hiatus time. She isn’t going to have to worry about finding work for a long time.
Knocked Up 2 will give us something to watch while we wait for The 42 Year Old Sexually Active Man.
