Zombie (aka Zombi 2) was a seminal film in European horror. Marketed rather shamelessly as a sequel to George Romero’s Dawn of the Dead (which was known as Zombi internationally), despite being a completely stand-alone film, Zombie proved to be a monumental global success and it marked a major renaissance and turning point in Italian director Lucio Fulci’s sagging career. Famous for a scene in which a zombie fights an actual tiger shark, the film also features heavy helpings of (then) outrageous gore, including Fulci’s signature fetish — eyeball mutilation!
Now, in honor of Zombie‘s forthcoming Blu-ray, Blue Underground is releasing the film in select theaters across the United States and Canadia! (Sorry, UK, but maybe you shouldn’t have banned the film for nearly 30 years; prudes.) The dates of the screenings vary wildly from city to city over the next several weeks, dipping into the first week of November. For city, theater, date and show time details, click here.

Nice, I was just listening to theme song to this…if you want to hear an awesome rap/dance/techno version of the main them check out “Dead Man Walking” by Evil Nine. Almost all their music samples music from 70’s/80’s horror. Kind of like Daft Punk, if they were horror freaks. Just look at the cover of their album They Live! and tell me you don’t want to hear what it sounds like…good shit.
Correction: the song is called “Dead Man Coming”…oops…
It’s playing at The Egyptian this weekend in Seattle. I’m totally going!
