Coming Soon has the newest poster for Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, which stars Nicolas Cage and is directed by the Crank duo of Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor. The poster looks great I’d say, which is a far cry from what I hear about the movie itself, which recently screened at Harry Knowles’ Butt-Numb-A-Thon in Austin. Shame. Still, I’ll probably see it, if only to catch Johnny Blaze watering somebody’s lawn with napalm. Of the flick, Cage himself described it as : “A completely original interpretation of Ghost Rider. It’s not a sequel at all. It’s ‘Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance,’ everything about it is different including the origin sequence. They’ll see new camera movies, high adrenaline, it’s like extreme sports. I think the movie’s going to be an incredibly wild ride.” (via Wikipedia)
Fergus Riordan, Ciaran Hinds, Violante Placido, Idris Elba, Johnny Whitworth and Mr. Christopher Lambert himself also star and the film opens in both 2D and 3D on February 17th from Columbia Pictures.

So now we’re rebooting three year old movies? How about The Wolfman without Hopkins?
I wouldn’t say that it’s a full-on reboot, just more of like what the Incredible Hulk did to Hulk. Cage is probably just trying to wash the bad taste of the first one out of our collective mouths.
Anyway, looks terrific, can’t wait.
We don’t get that till 2013. And didn’t we used to call these type of things retcons anyway?
