While I haven’t really spent much time crossing my fingers for Zemeckis to do something worth a shit, I’ve definitely been hoping to see Denzel Washington break out of the sameness of his roles for a while. Flight — the new, non-mocap film from Zemeckis about a heroic airline pilot with a secret — looks like it may have provided a chance for him to do just that. The story is compelling, the spectacle looks interestingly woven into the narrative, and Denzel’s characters seems to be in a position of complete powerlessness. I dig it. Don Cheadle looks great as well! John Goodman… we’ll wait and see on that one. Check it out.
