Despite having looks that I would consider divine, the lovely Kat Dennings will be playing just a regular old person in Thor. She’ll be Darcy, the medical student friend of Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), Thor’s love interest.
I have to admit that the fact that Thor will be following the original Journey into Mystery stories – Donald Blake as a crippled alter ego for Thor (although in the movie he’s a med student) – is bumming me out. I read a previous script that was 99% set in Asgard, and filled with huge Lord of the Rings-style battles and beasts. Setting the film mostly on Earth obviously makes Thor‘s budget more manageable, but it makes the scope so much dinkier.

This chick is a beast. What's with the lipstick, did she apply it while driving over speed bumps in some parking lot? I was hoping this was just a bad picture, but Google Images didn't offer anything better. FFS, this is a movie site, shouldn't your standards for beauty be a little higher than "I think I could get with her?" On a positive note: Natalie Portman will look amazing standing next to that.

On one side of this news; I'm thrilled. I want Kat to get bigger, more high-profile roles so she stays in the public eye. On the flip-side, I want her to get no roles, hastening her slide into hardcore pornography. I call this the "Monica Keena paradox."
Sometimes people's "standards of beauty", especially on a peanut gallery like these talkbacks, blows my fuckin' mind. I'd take Miss Denning's hot jew nose and amaaazing DSLs over plain-jane Natalie Portman any day of the week.
