I love Woody Allen, love the man. Manhattan is one of my all-time favorites films: an engaging, poetic, funny story about one man’s love affair for his home and everything he associates with it. Last year’s Midnight in Paris felt like a return to form for Allen in a lot of ways, which is why I’m so excited to see his latest offer, To Rome With Love. I love the idea of Jesse Eisenberg in the requisite Allen-surrogate role, and it’s great to see Allen himself back in front of the camera again as well. Count me in.

I have a feeling this is going to catch a lot of backlash for being set in Europe following Midnight in Paris’ massive success, but I don’t care. Looks wonderful.
I enjoyed Midnight in Paris quite a bit…but I can never get the thought out of my head that he married his adopted daughter…so creepy…it’s not like he adopted any other girls with his adopted wife…so he’s cool…
That being said, I do respect that he is very talented…but still….
Looks like minor Woody Allen to me. And am I wrong for thinking Vicki Christina Barcelona was twice the film Midnight in Paris was? If he needed a return to form (he didn’t), that’s the film where he pulled it off.
The day Woody finishes one movie is the day he starts the next. I doubt he is capitalizing on the success of Paris. It’s just another step on a classic world tour: New York, London, Paris etc.
Only in Woody’s case it was New York 40 times, London, etc.
Wonder if he will end up in Tokyo before he goes to where athiest Jews go when they die.
