I still remember reading the first news way back in 2002 about a movie that Stan Winston was going to produce that involved “Cannibalistic mountain men deformed through generations of inbreeding.” That line was enough to hook this horror fan, and come the next year I was watching a really great 70’s throwback film. There’s been 3 Direct To Video sequels thus far, and now we’re getting a Wrong Turn 5.
Here’s the plot on it.
“In the next chilling chapter of Wrong Turn, a small West Virginia town is hosting the legendary
Mountain Man Festival on Halloween, where throngs of costumed partygoers gather for a wild night of music and mischief. But an inbred family of hillbilly cannibals kill the fun when they trick and treat themselves to a group of visiting college students who are dying for a good time…”
The film is being directed by the gent who did the previous 2 films, Declan O’Brien. The third one wasn’t that great, but the last one was. He really stepped it up with being inventive. Even if it was a prequel. Still can’t hold a candle to the first 2 films though.

You know, after watching “The Cabin in the Woods” I’m not sure I can take these kinds of movies seriously anymore. I wouldn’t be able to not imagine Jenkins and Whitford in the control room and lamenting about it being cannibalistic hillbillies AGAIN.
How much do these films mean to me? I didn’t know they’d made a 3 & 4.
I guess I should see the fourth one after all.
I really enjoyed the first Wrong Turn. It was a fun throwback with some really good effects. The only thing i was let down with was the ultimate design of the inbreds. I felt they lacked imagination and winston could of gone batshit crazy with them.
2 was one of the nastiest horror films I’ve seen in quite awhile. I should give it another look.
2 was great fun. Rollins is awesome in it. Plus the first kill really sets the scene.
